BlogHamilton Watches Have Just Arrived!

Over the course of the next few months and in the lead-up to Christmas, we will be talking about some of the brands and items that truly excite us! This month, we kick things off with an article featuring Hamilton Watches. This is timely (no pun intended!), as we literally just received the new range of Hamilton wristwatches in the store and unpacking these gorgeous timepieces has been absolutely delightful. This premium brand watch company has been in business for over 120 years and is well-known for the reliability, quality, and beautiful design of its timepieces.

Hamilton established its first factory right here in the USA, all the way back in 1892, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Although they moved their H.Q to Biel, Switzerland early in this century, Hamilton remains “American at heart”.

Hamilton first made its name during the early days of the American railroads by designing and selling watches to keep the trains running on time and safely. Starting in 1918, Hamilton naturally moved into aviation time-keeping as this new form of transport grew into the major sector it is today. Initially, the watches were used to keep the new airmail running on time, but as the watch’s reputation for quality and reliability grew, it branched out into all areas of aviation.

Hamilton has always led the way in creating new, innovative timepieces. According to the Hamilton website: “In 1957, the Ventura became the world’s first electrical watch powered by a battery, and Pulsar, the world’s first LED digital watch, followed in 1970. Since 2011, Hamilton has produced together with ETA its own movements, that allow for extended power reserves of up to 80 hours to be incorporated into certain calibers.”

There is a lot of history to cover and we would love to tell you more. While you may not have known it at the time, you will have seen many famous Hamilton watches on the big-screen – they have been sported by many famous actors in the movies and can be spotted throughout the history of filmmaking.

We currently have several styles in store, including several options in the Khaki, American Classic, Jazzmaster, and the uniquely-styled and famous (and Elvis Presley legacy) Ventura line. We have 38mm and 42mm sizes to suit most wrists.

For watch-lovers, this is a well-known and exciting brand and we are delighted to bring it to you, right here at H.Perry Jewelers. Drop by the store and we’ll be happy to show you around.
