Blog“Sharing the Rough” Collection and The Devon Foundation

Do you ever wonder where your gemstones come from? Have you ever thought of the mining communities that produce these beautiful gems, or how our industry stimulates the economy and improves lives in towns with very little else to offer?

At HPerry Jewelers, we are proud of this industry and we are very proud to carry a colored gemstone line called Sharing The Rough, which directly benefits an organization called The Devon Foundation.

The Devon Foundation believes in this principle: Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. The Devon Foundation was created in 2008 to build communities in Africa by educating people in gemology and lapidary studies so that they can get good paying jobs and support their families.

Our collection from Parle Gems, Sharing the Rough, donates a percentage of their proceeds to The Devon Foundation. The gemstones in our collection are directly sourced from the area in East Africa that the foundation directly benefits. In addition to developing talent through scholarships and education, the foundation provides a school lunch program for all 500 of the students.
